Across Continents in One Day
On Wednesday, 5th February, The British School of Bali came together to celebrate International Day — a joyful occasion filled with discovery, connection and shared experiences. For one special day, our students travelled across South America, Europe and Africa without ever leaving campus, exploring the richness and diversity of each continent through hands-on learning and meaningful conversations.
Throughout the day, classrooms were alive with colour and curiosity. Students learned what a continent is, located countries on the map, explored different national flags, and began to understand how geography connects us all. These discussions sparked thoughtful questions and helped deepen their awareness of the wider world beyond our island home.
Children engaged in creative activities inspired by different cultures, experimenting with patterns, rhythms and artistic styles from each region. Laughter and excitement could be heard as students embraced new sounds and expressive forms, celebrating both differences and similarities around the globe.
One of the most memorable moments of the day was our shared culinary experience. Students had the opportunity to taste a variety of foods from different continents, discovering new flavours and textures. As they sampled each dish, they also practiced sharing with one another — demonstrating kindness, openness and gratitude. It was a beautiful reminder that food can connect us and help us appreciate cultures beyond our own.
International Day was also a meaningful opportunity for our students to reflect on respect, understanding and inclusion. By learning about different countries, traditions and ways of life, the children were encouraged to value each other’s backgrounds, celebrate uniqueness, and recognize that our differences are something to be proud of. It was heartwarming to see them listening, asking questions, and supporting one another with genuine curiosity and care.
The day truly reflected the warm and inclusive spirit of our school community. We are proud to nurture globally minded learners who approach the world with respect, empathy and open hearts.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year’s International Day such a special and memorable experience.
