The Wonders of Bali

In Science this term, Orchid Class has been engaged in an exciting and immersive project, creating a large-scale papier-mâché model of the island of Bali. This hands-on learning experience has allowed students to develop their understanding of Bali’s physical and human geography while exploring the island’s unique culture, famous landmarks, and diverse natural environments.

Throughout the project, students have worked collaboratively to research and recreate key features of the island, including its volcanic mountains, rivers, coastlines, villages, and surrounding seas. They have carefully planned, designed, and constructed each section of the model, applying their creativity, problem-solving skills, and scientific knowledge throughout the process. The project has also provided opportunities for students to discuss how volcanic activity has shaped Bali’s landscape and influenced the lives of the people who live there.

As the model has taken shape, students have demonstrated excellent teamwork, perseverance, and attention to detail, taking great pride in their work. The culmination of the project will be the creation of an erupting volcano, which will serve as an exciting and memorable finale to their learning. This interactive demonstration will showcase their understanding of volcanic processes while bringing their model of Bali to life. The project has been a wonderful way to combine scientific enquiry, geographical understanding, and creative expression, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable for all students involved.
